  • 2 1/2 quarts fresh wild blackberries
  • 4 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 box Sure-Jell (pectin)
  • 1 tsp butter

Instructions

  1. Gather all tools and ingredients.
  2. Wash blackberries thoroughly, removing stems and damaged fruit.
  3. In a large pot, cook blackberries with a little water over medium heat for about 15 minutes until soft.
  4. Strain the mixture through a tight-knit strainer to extract approximately 3 3/4 cups of juice.
  5. Combine juice, Sure-Jell, and butter in a large pot; bring to a rolling boil while stirring continuously.
  6. Add sugar and boil for one minute while stirring constantly.
  7. Remove from heat, ladle into sterilized jars, and seal.
  8. Process jars in a water bath for ten minutes or allow them to seal naturally.
