  • 1 recipe for double pie crust
  • 2 1/4 lbs Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored, and thinly sliced)
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 8 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pie crust as per instructions and chill while preheating your oven to 425˚F.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and simmer for 1 minute. Add water and sugar; bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for another 3 minutes.
  3. Toss sliced apples with cinnamon in a large bowl, then pour the sauce over them and mix well.
  4. Roll out the bottom crust and transfer it to your pie plate. Fill with apple mixture.
