  • olive oil
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp kosher salt
  • 1 Tbsp paprika
  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp dried minced onions
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup apple juice
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Mix all rub ingredients in a bowl until well combined.
  2. Coat the beef shoulder with olive oil and evenly apply the spice rub.
  3. Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C).
  4. Place the seasoned beef shoulder in the smoker, adding wood chips for flavor. Smoke for about 12 hours until it reaches an internal temperature of 195°F (90°C).
  5. After cooking, wrap the beef in aluminum foil and let it rest for at least one hour before slicing or shredding.
