  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 8 slices provolone cheese (4 for filling, 4 for topping)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and sauté the diced bell pepper and onion until softened (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  4. Press half of the meat mixture into a loaf pan to form a base.
  5. Layer half of the provolone cheese over the meat base followed by the sautéed vegetables.
  6. Top with the remaining meat mixture and gently press down to seal.
  7. Bake in preheated oven for about 45–50 minutes. Add remaining cheese in the last five minutes until melted.
  8. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley.
