  • 4 Tbsp unsalted butter (plus more for spreading)
  • 1 large egg
  • ⅓ cup potato flakes
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (plus additional for filling)
  • 2 tsp orange zest
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • Powdered sugar for glaze

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by dissolving it in warm water with a bit of sugar.
  2. Heat milk, then mix in salt, sugar, and butter until dissolved.
  3. Combine potato flakes with hot water; then mix all wet ingredients in a stand mixer.
  4. Gradually add flour to form sticky dough; knead for about 5–10 minutes.
  5. Let the dough rise until doubled in size (about one hour).
  6. Prepare the orange filling by mixing sugar, ginger, and zest.
  7. Roll out the dough, spread with butter and filling, then roll up tightly.
  8. Cut into rolls and let rise again until puffy.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
