  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ cup canola oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 2⅓ cups all-purpose flour

  • ¾ teaspoon cream of tartar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line three baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, beat together softened butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until smooth. Mix in canola oil, egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt; gradually combine with wet ingredients until just mixed.
  4. Scoop tablespoons of dough into granulated sugar to coat lightly.
  5. Arrange dough balls on prepared sheets about two inches apart and flatten slightly.
  6. Bake for 9–12 minutes or until edges are set; sprinkle with reserved sugar while warm.
