Ingredients

  • 2 lbs apples (Gala, Fuji, or similar)
  • 10 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 inches ginger
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 teaspoons black peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Wash and quarter the apples, leaving the skins on.
  2. For Instant Pot: Combine apples, sliced ginger, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, peppercorns, and 10 cups of water in the Instant Pot. Cook on high pressure for 18 minutes. Release steam manually.
  3. For Stove Top: In a stock pot, combine all ingredients and bring to a boil; then simmer for about 30 minutes until apples are soft.
  4. Strain the mixture using a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher or jar.
  5. Let cool before refrigerating or serving.
