  • 1 lb homemade rough puff pastry or 2 sheets store-bought puff pastry
  • 2 cups peeled & diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup granulated or brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • Optional: 1/2 cup salted caramel for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Prepare your pastry dough (homemade or thawed store-bought).
  2. In a saucepan, cook diced apples with cornstarch, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar over medium heat for about 10 minutes until softened.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) and prepare baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  4. Roll out the dough and cut into squares. Spoon apple filling onto each square.
  5. Fold and seal the edges using a fork.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.
  7. Brush each turnover with egg wash, cut steam vents on top, and bake for 23–25 minutes until golden brown.
