Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 small green bell pepper (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ cup shredded provolone or white American cheese
  • 4 brioche or hamburger buns (toasted)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned, about 5 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add onions, bell peppers, and garlic; sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper; simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  4. For the cheese sauce, melt butter in a small saucepan. Stir in flour; cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in warm milk until smooth; add cheese and stir until melted.
  5. Toast the insides of the buns in a hot pan for 1-2 minutes until golden.
  6. Assemble sandwiches by spooning beef mixture onto buns and drizzling with cheese sauce.
