  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 2 shots bourbon
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 to 3 cups dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until golden brown. Remove from heat and stir in the bourbon, letting it cool.
  3. In a stand mixer, combine the cooled butter mixture with brown sugar, white sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, one egg, and one egg yolk. Beat until smooth.
  4. Gradually add flour while mixing on low speed; then mix in baking soda and salt before folding in dark chocolate chips.
  5. Spoon large balls of dough onto a lined baking sheet and chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
  6. Bake for about 12 minutes, until slightly undercooked. Let cool on a rack.
