  • 8 ounces uncooked pasta (bucatini recommended)
  • 6 strips bacon (diced)
  • 8 ounces cremini mushrooms (sliced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/3 cup chicken broth or dry white wine
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Optional: Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Boil salted water in a pot, add the pasta, and cook al dente according to package instructions. Drain, reserving some pasta water.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, fry diced bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside on paper towels.
  3. Sauté sliced mushrooms in the same skillet until tender; add minced garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
  4. Return bacon to the skillet; add chicken broth (or wine) along with Italian seasoning, lemon juice, flour, and Dijon mustard. Stir briefly.
  5. Pour in heavy cream; simmer until slightly thickened.
  6. Combine cooked pasta with the creamy mixture and toss gently, adjusting consistency with reserved pasta water if needed.
