  • 2 cups warm water (110℉)
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp melted unsalted butter
  • 6 tbsp brown butter
  • ⅓ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm water and sugar; sprinkle yeast on top and let it foam for 10–15 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil; mix until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Cover and refrigerate the dough for at least 12 hours.
  4. Grease a baking pan with melted butter; transfer the dough and let it rise in a warm area for about 1.5–2 hours.
  5. Make brown butter in a saucepan over medium heat; mix in light brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Preheat oven to 450℉. Dimple the dough deeply and drizzle with brown butter mixture.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before drizzling with icing made from powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.
