Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup dark cocoa powder
  • ¾ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ½ tbsp instant active dry yeast

Instructions

  1. In a large nonstick pot, heat milk, oil, and sugar to about 120°F. Remove from heat and sprinkle yeast on top; let it activate for a few minutes.
  2. Stir in 1 ¾ cups flour and cocoa powder. Cover with a towel and let rise for an hour.
  3. Add salt, baking powder, baking soda, and remaining flour; knead until smooth. Cut an X on top of the dough and let it rise again for about 6 hours (or overnight).
  4. Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread peanut butter evenly, sprinkle with sugar and chocolate chips, then roll tightly.
  5. Cut into slices and place in a greased baking pan. Let rise again for an hour or refrigerate overnight.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F and bake rolls for 15-18 minutes until tops are dry.
  7. For frosting: beat cream cheese, peanut butter, unsalted butter until smooth; mix in powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
  8. Frost cooled rolls and enjoy!
