Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken thighs and legs (bone-in, skin-on)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp paprika (or Hungarian paprika for extra spice)
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup sweet onion (chopped)
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 cups low sodium chicken stock
  • 1 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, paprika, salt, and pepper. Dredge chicken pieces in the mixture.
  2. Heat oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Brown the chicken on both sides for about 3 minutes each; remove from pot.
  3. Sauté onions and cayenne pepper in the same pot until onions are tender (about 2 minutes).
  4. Return the chicken to the pot and add chicken stock. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for approximately 45 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Mix sour cream with leftover flour and some liquid from the pot until smooth; stir into the paprikash. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
