  • 2 1/8 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda.
  3. In another bowl, beat melted butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time and stir in vanilla.
  4. Gradually combine dry ingredients into the wet mixture until blended. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  5. Spread the dough evenly in the pan and bake for 25–30 minutes until lightly golden around the edges.
  6. Allow to cool completely before lifting out and cutting into squares.
