  • 6 slices turkey bacon, chopped
  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 3 cups beef broth (or chicken broth)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz), undrained
  • 8 oz pasta shells or elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup heavy cream (optional)
  • Fresh parsley or chives for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook chopped turkey bacon until crispy, then set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, brown ground beef; add onion and garlic until softened, season with salt and pepper.
  3. Stir in ketchup and mustard, then add broth and diced tomatoes. Mix in pasta and bring to a boil.
  4. Cover and simmer for about 10-12 minutes until pasta is al dente.
  5. Stir in cheddar cheese and optional heavy cream until melted.
  6. Add cooked turkey bacon back into the skillet; mix thoroughly.
