  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 4 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 6 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • Chai tea bags (for filling)
  • Spices: cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, cardamom, cloves

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk to about 110°F and mix it with yeast and sugar; let it foam for 5 minutes.
  2. In a stand mixer, combine flour, spices, salt, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and softened butter. Mix until combined and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl; cover and let rise for about an hour until doubled in size.
  4. Prepare filling by steeping chai tea bags in heavy cream for 10 minutes; mix with brown sugar and spices.
  5. Roll out dough into a rectangle; spread softened butter and sprinkle filling evenly before rolling tightly into a log.
  6. Cut into approximately 12 pieces; place in a greased baking dish for their second rise.
  7. Bake at 350°F for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
