  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
  • Marinara sauce (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit until foamy (about 5 minutes).
  2. Add salt, canola oil, and two cups of flour. Mix until combined, then gradually add the remaining flour until you have a soft dough.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth, place it in a greased bowl, cover it, and let rise for one hour.
  4. Punch down the dough, divide into 16 pieces, shape into bone forms by twisting ropes of dough.
  5. Place shaped breadsticks on a baking sheet, cover them, and let rise for another 45 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F and bake for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Brush with butter and sprinkle with garlic salt and parmesan before serving.
