Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • 2¼ tsp instant dry yeast
  • 120 g sugar
  • 240 ml lukewarm milk
  • 60 g unsalted melted butter cooled to room temperature
  • 1 egg at room temperature
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract or essence
  • 900 g apples (I like to use Pink Lady, Fuji or Royal Gala)
  • 60 g unsalted butter
  • 170 g brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and instant dry yeast.
  2. In another bowl, mix warm milk with melted butter until combined.
  3. Add sugar, egg, and vanilla extract to the milk mixture. Stir well.
  4. Gradually mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  6. Place it in a greased bowl and cover with a cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  7. Peel and chop the apples into small pieces.
  8. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt unsalted butter.
  9. Add chopped apples along with brown sugar, ground cinnamon, cornstarch, salt, and water. Cook until apples are tender (about 5-7 minutes). Remove from heat.
  10. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  11. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  12. Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough.
  13. Roll it tightly from one end to another and slice into equal pieces.
  14. Place sliced rolls in a greased baking dish close together.
  15. Cover with plastic wrap or cloth for about 30 minutes to rise again.
  16. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
