About

Hey there, I’m Angela!

Welcome to All Foodie Recipes. I’m a home cook and lifelong baker living just outside Chicago, where cold winters last half the year and keeping a pot of soup on the stove or something warm in the oven is practically a survival skill. I started this site in 2024 to share the dependable, full-flavored meals and sweet treats I actually make in my own kitchen, using normal grocery store ingredients and clear instructions that work the first time.

The Red-Pen Binder That Taught Me to Cook

My love for cooking started right next to my mom. She worked full-time as an elementary school teacher and still managed to get a hot dinner on the table almost every evening with a small radio playing softly on the windowsill. Instead of glossy cookbooks, she cooked out of a thick three-ring binder held together with masking tape and stuffed with clipped magazine pages.

Every page in that binder was covered in her red-pen notes in the margins: “too salty, cut the soy sauce,” “bake 5 minutes less,” or “double the garlic next time.” My favorite job growing up was helping her bake dessert bars for neighborhood potlucks, mostly because I got to claim the uneven corner pieces straight off the cooling rack before anyone else saw the pan. She taught me early on that recipes aren’t meant to sound fancy on paper; they’re meant to work on a busy weeknight.

Why All Foodie Recipes Started in 2024

While helping my parents clean out their kitchen cabinets in early 2024, I spent an afternoon taking phone pictures of my mom’s favorite binder pages so they wouldn’t get lost. Later that week, I looked at my own cookbooks and saved recipes at home and realized they looked the exact same way, covered in sticky notes fixing recipes that took twice as long as promised or came out bland.

I decided to launch All Foodie Recipes as a home for tested, practical recipes that give you all the real details upfront, from honest prep times to exact oven cues.

Real Kitchen Testing (Shortcuts Welcome)

I’m a firm believer in cooking smarter rather than dirtying every pot in the kitchen to prove a point. If a smart supermarket shortcut saves thirty minutes on a Wednesday night without hurting the flavor, I happily use it. My One Pot Chicken Dumpling Soup, for example, uses torn pieces of refrigerated biscuit dough dropped straight into simmering broth, and my family prefers it over scratch-made dumplings every single time.

At the same time, I’m picky about timing and texture. One-pan meals look effortless, yet the first time I tested my Baked Chicken Thighs with Garlic Herb Veggies, the broccoli charred before the potatoes were fork-tender and the chicken skin stayed pale. Cutting the potatoes smaller, patting the bone-in thighs completely dry before rubbing them with smoked paprika and thyme, and broiling the pan for the final three minutes solved everything at once. Even with desserts like my Biscoff Brownies, it took two test batches to figure out that warming the cookie butter for fifteen seconds first keeps the swirl cleanly on top instead of sinking to the bottom.

What’s Usually on My Stove

On a busy weeknight when everyone is hungry at once, dinner at my house is usually my Ultimate Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowl with Veggie Stir-Fry or a sheet pan of Baked Garlic Salmon with Crispy Baby Potatoes & Cheesy Asparagus. Once October rolls around, a pot of Creamy Chicken Butternut Squash Soup is almost always in my fridge for quick lunches. And whenever we’re invited to a friend’s house, I’m the person showing up at the door with a chilled No-Bake Lemon Biscoff Tart or a tray of Peanut Butter Oreo Bars.

Whether you’re here looking for weeknight dinner ideas, cozy soups, or easy desserts, I hope you find plenty of recipes worth keeping in your regular rotation.
